J & J Snack Foods Acquires Camden Creek

Pennsauken, NJ-based J & J Snack Foods Corp. has acquired the Camden Creek Bakery cookie business from Schwan's Sales Enterprises Inc. (Marshall, MN). Camden Creek sells frozen ready-to-bake cookies to the foodservice industry with approximately $4.6 million of sales in 1998.

"The acquisition of the Camden Creek Bakery cookie business will complement our growing Mrs. Goodcookie foodservice cookie line that was introduced to the marketplace last year," said Gerald Shreiber, J & J's president and CEO. "This provides increased opportunities for J & J to expand our product lines in additional dayparts and menu settings."

J & J Snack Foods Corp.'s principal products include soft pretzels, frozen carbonated beverages, Italian Ices, churros, and frozen juice bars.
