Nutrinova Gains 'Higher Level' Rating At BRC Global Food Standard

Nutrinova, an international supplier of food ingredients, gained "higher level" rating with the implementation of the BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Food Standard. Ad-ditionally, Nutrinova has been successfully re-certified ac-cording to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and DIN EN ISO 14001:2004 for its high-intensity sweetener Sunett® (acesul-fame K) and its preservatives sorbic acid and potassium sor-bate.

Proactive advancement
The BRC has created a global food standard for the supply of food products incorporating EU legislation and best practise requirements regarding food safety management. The stan-dard possesses a comprehensive scope covering all areas of product safety and legality, and addresses part of the due dili-gence requirements of both the supplier and the retailers. The standard covers such critical topics as: HACCP-System, qual-ity management, factory environmental standard, and product and process control.

With the implementation of the BRC standard, Nutrinova has proactively followed the increasing requirements of manufac-turers of retailers' own brand products to the extent that even their ingredients suppliers comply with the BRC standards.
