San Diego, CA - Viejas Casino, southern California's premier tribal gaming facility, is helping its customers cash in on the national trend toward healthy eating. The San Diego area casino has switched to a healthier, trans-fat free frying oil in all six restaurants throughout the casino, becoming the first casino to completely transition to trans-fat free frying oil. It's a deal that will leave everyone a winner.
The Viejas Casino implemented the new trans-fat free frying oil March 1 and has had excellent reviews from the chefs and guests alike.
"The decision to become trans-fat free was easy," said Gary Thompson, executive chef for Viejas. "Being proactive is always a goal of ours and the benefits, not only to our guests but also our team members, far out weigh the costs. Becoming more health conscience is something Viejas is committed to, and this effort supports many of the programs we already have in place."
Using trans-fat free frying oil is just one step in the commitment Viejas has to improving the health and wellness of its employees. To demonstrate that commitment, Viejas has incorporated the "Thrive" program, an employee health and wellness program comparable to programs offered in Fortune 500 companies. The program has been in place for over a year and many employees have already benefited from the results.

Viejas currently has six restaurants within the casino; The Grove Steakhouse, Harvest Buffet, China Camp, Sunrise Diner, The Mezz Deli and the V Lounge featuring contemporary and creative tapas menu.
