Avicel-Plus Cellulose Gel
Avicel-Plus cellulose gel can help product formulators boost calcium levels in milk beverages up to 40% of the RDI. The National Institutes of Health has found that most adults consume less than 60% of the recommended daily intake of calcium. One way to combat this is to increase the calcium in milk beverages. This, however, often can make the product unpalatable. The gel contains calcium carbonate, cellulose gel, cellulose gum, and carrageenan. This blend effectively suspends calcium and/or other nutrients without contributing excessive viscosity to the product. The ingredient also can help improve fat-free milk by contributing a fat-like mouthfeel and opacity.
