Bionutrics Forms Alliance with AC Humko

Bionutrics, Inc., an emerging biopharmaceutical company based in Phoenix, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nutrition Technology Corporation, Inc., West Monroe, LA, has completed the sale of certain rice bran oil and processing assets to Memphis-based AC Humko Corp. As part of the transaction, Bionutrics and AC Humko have formed an alliance for the development of rice bran oil and other derivative products, whereby Bionutrics will receive a perpetual profit-sharing interest. Through this alliance, AC Humko will supply the rice bran-derived Clearesterol ingredient used in evolvE, Bionutrics Health Product's cardiovascular dietary supplement with cholesterol lowering, antioxidant and improved blood circulation properties.

"Bionutrics is now in a position to execute on its stated mission to leverage research and product development strengths and rely on partners to manufacture and market products," said Bionutrics chairman and CEO Ronald Lane. "The launching of the relationships with Novartis (announced February 26, 1998) and now AC Humko represents the implementation of this strategy for functional foods."

Bionutrics is an emerging biopharmaceutical company founded to discover and develop novel, biologically active compounds derived from natural sources. Bionutrics' first patented product contains tocotrienols from rice bran.
