China's First Yogurt Drink Launched With EPA And DHA From Fish Oil
OMU Drinkable Yogurt With MEG-3 Earns 2006 Recommended Product Distinction
Ocean Nutrition Canada Limited (ONC), supplier of MEG-3 brand Omega-3 EPA/DHA food and dietary supplement ingredients, is pleased to announce the launch of China's first drinkable yogurt, OMU brand drinkable yogurt, enriched with MEG-3 brand Omega-3 EPA/DHA made from fish oil. Canton American Flower Lounge Livestock Company Limited (CAFL), a subsidiary of Lark International Dairy Holdings, held a press conference in Guangzhou on May 18 in China to introduce the new OMU drinkable yogurt with MEG-3 on their company's 20th anniversary. During the press conference, OMU drinkable yogurt with MEG-3 was named the 2006 recommended product by the Chairman of the Guangdong Dairy Association. Mr. Tim Coughlin, Consul General of Canada, and Su Zequn, the Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality, were also at the press conference showing their support for Omega-3 food products in China.
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) are the physiologically essential fatty acids important for good health and normal growth and development. Many studies have shown that DHA plays an essential role in the normal development of the brain, eyes and nerves while literature suggests that EPA is a potent natural anti-inflammatory. Together, EPA and DHA aid in the maintenance of cardiovascular function.
The MEG-3 brand food ingredient used in OMU drinkable yogurt contains EPA and DHA from fish oil, which enables food products to offer the health benefits of fish oil in foods people love without the taste or smell of fish. The MEG-3 brand food ingredient has a unique micro-encapsulation technology called Powder-loc, a patented, double shell protection that locks in the health benefits of Omega-3 EPA/DHA and locks out the taste and smell of fish. The Powder-loc breakthrough has enabled the launch of ten types of food applications in 12 countries. In 2006, there will be over two billion servings of food containing the MEG-3 brand ingredient.
