Classica Group acquires additional microwave technology patents

The Classica Group, Inc. (Lakewood, NJ) has announced that its microwave technology segment is in the process of preparing for several new patent filings for both food and non-food processing applications.

Additionally, the company said it is currently in negotiations to purchase four existing US patents, one Canadian patent, and several Italian patents, which utilize microwave technology for food and non-food processing.

The Classica Group describes its microwave-based technology as able to provide food products with bacterial integrity, convenience in preparation, and extended refrigerated and non-refrigerated shelf life without dependency on additives or preservatives. The company said it plans to use the technology for its own use, along with its other companies, Classica Food Services, Inc., and Cucina Classica Italiana, Inc., and will use its laboratory to develop and test new products.

"Our biggest strength that will propel our company is the proprietary knowledge gained with over 20 years of research & development and our extensive library of documented test results in all facets of food processing," stated Giuseppe Ruozi, managing director of the company's Italian microwave technology segment.

The Classica Group, Inc.'s Cucina Classica Italiana subsidiary imports and produces under license Italian specialty cheeses and other premium specialty foods, including brands from Egidio Galbani S.p.A. The Classica Group's Classica Food Service, Inc. subsidiary is a food processor and distributor.
