Company History
Smoking techniques have been in existence for years. First used as a method of preserving meats, the art of smoking has evolved into a unique food processing technology. In 1955, Dr. Clifford Hollenbeck, a researcher familiar with the traditional vaporous smoking process, set out to find a more practical smoking method. Through his research, Dr. Hollenbeck discovered that by controlling the pyrolysis of hardwood sawdust, the important natural wood smoke components could be captured in water. This technological breakthrough was patented by Dr. Hollenbeck, thus sparking the formation of Red Arrow Products Co. LLC.
Built on a solid foundation of research, Red Arrow has focused on refining its natural smoke flavors and developing innovative ways to utilize them in the industry. As interest in natural smoke flavors grew, Red Arrow responded by establishing three additional companies: Red Arrow International LLC, Red Arrow Handels GmbH, and Red Arrow Equipment Company, Inc.
Through a network of distributors, Red Arrow International provides technical assistance to a great number of meat and food processors worldwide. Red Arrow Handels GmbH was created to promote Red Arrow products specifically to the German market. Red Arrow Equipment Company designs and manufactures custom built smoke flavor application systems for processing facilities around the world.
