CPC Increases Investment in Mexico and Acquires Small Ecuadorian Operation

Corn Products International, Inc., (Bedford Park, IL) closed the first of a series of transactions with Arancia Industrial (Arancia), its partner in Arancia-CPC, S.A. de C.V. (Arancia-CPC).

The previously announced transaction will enable Corn Products to acquire the controlling interest in Arancia-CPC and in Poliquimicos del Ecuador, S.A., for a combination of cash and Corn Products Stock. At the same time, it will enable Arancia to become an important stockholder in Corn Products International.

Arancia-CPC is a Mexican producer of corn starches, high-fructose corn syrup, dextrose, glucose and maltodextrins derived from corn refining. The other company, Poliesca, is the only sorbitol producer in the Andean countries.
