Danisco Cultor celebrates 25 years in the U.S.

Danisco Cultor employees at its facilities in St. Joseph MO and New Century, KS, recently celebrated 25 years since the opening of a sales office in Kansas City, MO and 20 years since the opening of the New Century production facility. The company, originally known as Grindsted Products, first entered the U.S. market importing emulsifiers and flavors into the U.S. in 1975, Grindsted Products was incorporated with the addition of an administration office and central storage facility in Kansas City, accompanied by technical service and a local sales force.

In 1980, the emulsifier production plant started a long line of milestones for the U.S. facility with the launch of several ingredient lines. Danisco Cultor now manufactures an extensive range of functional ingredients, comprised of highly specific items for use in a wide variety of industrial applications. These include: antimicrobials; antioxidants; cultures and starter media; emulsifiers; enzymes and stabilizers; flavors; specialty fats; specialty sweeteners; and textural ingredients such as pectin, carrageenan, alginates and locust bean gum.

The company describes its growth as a process of purposeful evolution, not explosive expansion. In the last few years, Danisco Cultor has evolved with the merger of Danisco Ingredients and Cultor Food Science and the acquisition of Beck flavors and Wisby. With each acquisition, the company sought to strengthen its position within the industry to the point where they now have companies in over 30 countries, with production facilities, application centers and sales outlets close to customers.
