At Gerber®, food formulation and processing are an art and a science we've practiced successfully for generations. Ever since the Gerber® family sold its first can of prepared baby food back in 1928, we've built our business on trust – the trust earned by maintaining the highest standards of quality, customer service, and product integrity.

Over the last 70 years, our business has grown from a family cannery in Fremont, Michigan, to a diversified multinational company with manufacturing and sales facilities all over the globe. A key part of that growth has been realized through our food ingredients business, which offers tropical fruit products and other ingredients to food companies worldwide.

As we continue to expand our ingredients business, we will proudly extend Gerber® values into new markets and geographies. We began our ingredients processing in 1979 in response to the changing market conditions for processed banana. Productos Gerber® de Centroamerica in Costa Rica was the only Gerber® location producing baby food bananas from fresh produce.

Since that time, Gerber® Ingredients has grown into the largest supplier of banana puree in the world, making our San Jose baby food facility the largest single banana processing plant in the world. Our technical advances in banana processing include puree concentration for both frozen and aseptically packed product, as well as high quality banana puree drum drying.

We are a major supplier to the food industries in both the USA and Europe. In addition, we have produced and sold processed banana products to all seven continents. To support this growth, we depend on a first class technical staff both in our production facility and in our state-of-the-art research and development center in Fremont, Michigan.
