Hood Ice Cream Announces Undeclared Walnuts

HP Hood (Chelsea MA) announced a warning to consumers who are allergic to walnuts and have purchased Hood Chippedy Chocolaty Ice Cream after Jan. 28, 1999. A small number of half gallon containers of the product actually contain Maple Walnut Ice Cream and could pose a health risk to anyone with a walnut allergy.

According to Hood, the problem is confined to half gallons of Chippedy Chocolaty Ice Cream with date code 01/25/00 on the left side panel, which were purchased in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. No other Hood products are affected.

The product is not being recalled, but affected consumers may return the ice cream to their local store for a refund.
