This Labeling Certification Program provides hands-on, intensive instruction for food labeling staff to ensure products stay on the right course — toward profitability and away from costly mistakes. The program offers:

• One-on-one or small group training by food technologists and labeling experts
• A flexible curriculum: select instruction in the topics your staff need to understand, adjusted to their level of experience
• Training at Prime Label's Washington, DC offices or on site
• One- to three-day programs
• Complete confidentiality
• Field trips to meet USDA officials and see the label approval process at work
• The company's newly revised and expanded 255-page Basic Course in Standards and Labeling Requirements for Meat and Poultry Products

These features have been combined into three options: Customized Training in Washington, DC; On-site Customized Training; and the latest offering, the one-day Seminar for Novice Labelers. For the most comprehensive training, the company recommends the Customized Training Option at Prime Label's Washington, DC offices. Customers can custom design one to three days of personalized instruction for up to five members of their staff, selecting from the following topics:

Basic Labeling - Understand the "meat" of the matter, including the label approval process, generic labeling, Form 7234, required labeling features, standards of identity and composition, processing and formulation requirements, calculation of restricted ingredient levels, and recordkeeping requirements.

Nutrition Labeling - Master the requirements for voluntary and mandatory nutrition labeling, including serving information, required/optional nutrient declarations, Nutrition Facts panel format selection, and selection and presentation of nutrient content claims.

Computer Software - Learn how EZ Form 2000 software for Windows can help generate complete label approval applications quickly and accurately, maintain important labeling records, and aid in the development of product formulations and processing procedures that comply with all pertinent regulations. Use the ESHA/Genesis database for nutritional analysis, then export the results to EZ Form's Nutrition Navigator.

Child Nutrition Labeling Learn the basics of CN labeling and meal credit calculation.

USDA Field Trips Get an inside view of USDA/FSIS' Labeling Review Branch and Food and Nutrition Service (CN labeling headquarters). Meet USDA officials, observe the label approval process — even get labels approved in person.
