Richard Popper,PhD, formerly with Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., has joined the staff of Peryam & Kroll Research Corp. (P&K). Beverly Kroll, president of the Chicago-based sensory and market research firm, made the announcement and said Popper would assume his duties with the company immediately.

"Dr. Popper is well known to the sensory and marketing research community and he has been a friend of the Peryam & Kroll family for many years," said Kroll, "When the opportunity came for us to work together, we were both eager to make it happen as quickly as possible."

Popper is now P&K's VP for research and development. In that position he will be responsible for company sponsored research projects, and for integrating new statistical analysis and research technologies into the Peryam & Kroll operation when they offer measurable benefits to the client. He will also direct a reorganization of the company's marketing.

"Dr. Popper is sensitive to advancements taking place in the industry and the marketplace," said Kroll. "His efforts will see to it that P&K clients and prospects have access to the most current and sophisticated sensory and marketing research technology available, as well as to the traditional methodologies and precision services our clients rely upon."

Popper joined Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. in 1989 as manager of sensory research. In that position he also headed a number of special projects, including a joint venture with Pepsi Cola and an R&D program in flavor technology. Since 1996, Popper was the leader of Ocean Spray's innovation group, a team engaged in early product development, sometimes called the "fuzzy front end."

Popper's office will be located in the new Dallas facility when it opens. Until then he can be reached through the P&K Chicago office.
