Winn-Dixie Recalls Luncheon Meats

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., Jacksonville, FL, is voluntarily recalling two days' production of Madison and WD Brand sliced luncheon meats made by Dixie Packers, Inc., of Madison, FL. The action comes as Winn-Dixie and USDA officials continue their evaluation of the meat processing plant in Madison where production of franks and sliced luncheon meats has been discontinued.

"The recall resulted because USDA found two packages of WD Brand luncheon meats with the same bacteria (Listeria monocytogenes) as found in three packages of WD Brand franks earlier," said Mickey Clerc, PR director for Winn-Dixie. "The sliced luncheon meats include such products as sliced ham, turkey and bologna products."

The products were distributed to Winn-Dixie stores located in the following 14 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia and the Bahamas.
